Loyiso State of the Nation Address

Emmy nominated funnyman Loyiso Gola offers the lighter side of South African society and current affairs in his State of the Nation Address at the Venue@Hemingways on 4 July 2014.

This one-night-only comedy show is authentically-South African, delivered in the format of the President’s recent State of the Nation address. In this hour-long, not-to-be-missed show, Loyiso will cover South African current affairs from the past six months. In his characteristic outspoken and intelligently-frank manner, he will take his audience on a comedy romp full of hysterically-funny and hard-hitting punch-lines.

It’s been said that the best comedians are those who hold-up a mirror to society. Loyiso’s State of the Nation Address is a true and humorously-genius reflection of how South Africa currently looks as a society.

“For anyone who is just plain sick to death and bored of all the seriousness and heavy news that confronts us on a daily basis, this is a show you should see. Loyiso brings the lighter side to serious matters without distorting the truth. He’s already earned rave reviews for his State of the Nation Address, and for treading where many other comedians wouldn’t dare,” says Neville Austin, the Marketing Manager at Hemingways.

Loyiso is currently one of South Africa’s most celebrated comedians. He also boasts a great international footprint, with recent performances in New York, Montreal, Edinburgh, London, Switzerland, Nigeria Swaziland, Zambia and Namibia where he was well received. During this time he has performed alongside the best the country has to offer as well as shared the stage with some of the best comedians in the world, in the likes of Russell Peters, Paul Rodriguez, Pablo Francisco, Mark Curry, Jim Jefferies, Brandon Burns, Jimmy Carr, Charlie Pickering, Rhod Gilbert, Basketmouth and many others.

Tickets for his Hemingways show are available from Computicket.  Ticket prices range from R 90 to R 130. Seats are reserved.
